Spring is well known for being the best time of year to sell a home. If you are planning to sell your property this season, it is important that you prepare your home to attract potential buyers.   Here we leave you a list with 10 tips to make your home sell faster.

  1. Be your own critic: start by criticizing your house as a potential buyer would. Think about the tastes of the person who could buy it, be it a family of 6 or a couple without children. If it is a family home, you may want it to look like it.
  2. Re-paint: the best thing is always to paint your house with neutral colors, so that buyers can imagine any style of decoration without major problem.
  3. Floor: If your budget allows, it would be ideal to invest in removing or replacing the carpet. Today buyers are more inclined to homes that do not have carpet, as they are easier to clean and maintain.
  4. Organize: take advantage of the space in each drawer you have. Get rid of everything you do not use at home. This will open the area and leave room for the imagination. If you have a place to store them, you can remove two or three pieces of furniture from each room, so you can more easily show the structure of your house and give the impression that it is a large space. In the kitchen, pick up appliances like toasters or teapots to give more prominence to the top.
  5. Un-customize: you've probably invested a lot of money in making your home look as much as possible to you and your tastes. Now is the time to undo that work! Eliminate everything that makes your house look very personal, so prospective buyers can imagine living there. For example, it replaces familiar photographs with pieces of art.
  6. Decor a little: you do not want it to look very personal but neither does it look like a cold and empty space. Decorate a little to give the feeling of home: uses neutral colors in the walls that allow the cohesive transition from one room to another. Colourful flowers generally add a touch of color and warmth to the home, while green plants make the most contemporary space look.
  7. Neutral furniture: they are important and if they are important brands they will make a big difference. Although the brand is not visible to the prospective buyer, the overall look makes a big impact. Any cushions or carpet that are not in good condition should be replaced at the time of selling the house, so new buyers may feel that the property has been properly maintained.
  8. Enlighten: it is key to attract the attention of buyers. Good lighting will make your home look more spacious and enhance its qualities. Always opt for yellow light as it gives more warmth, white lights remind doctors!
  9. Add fresh scents: you can use scented candles or diffusers around the house but focus your attention on the main room, bathroom and room. Remember to always choose smells that give warmth and home, such as vanilla or cinnamon, or fresh but light as lavender.
  10. Stage your house: organize the furniture and decoration in a way that looks like a presentation worthy of gallery. There should not be a dirty plate or trash can. Making your home look maintained and maintained will make new buyers feel proud to have it.
